THE BIG FACTS

Pub Ammo
🧤 Arsenal haven’t conceded more than two goals in a game for 485 days. Real Madrid beckon next week…
🗿 Harry Maguire accumulated more xG in stoppage time vs Nottingham Forest (7 mins) than Rasmus Højlund has in his last 15 appearances.
🟨 James Tarkowski now has the joint-most yellow cards without ever being sent off in Premier League history (63).
🤣 David Moyes is the first manager in Premier League history to manage 20 away games against a single opponent (Liverpool) and not win any of them.
🇵🇹 Bruno Fernandes has matched Luke Shaw’s total number of appearances for Man Utd (278), despite joining five-and-a-half years after him.
📍 48% of Nicolas Jackson’s Premier League goals have been scored in London derbies. Chelsea face Brentford away on Sunday...

THE BIG OPINION

End of an Era
Kevin De Bruyne is the best midfielder to ever play in the Premier League.
He has the joint-most assists in a season (20) as well as reaching 100 assists in the fewest number of games (237) – eclipsing assist machine Cesc Fabregas and Ryan Giggs.
Add to that SIX Premier League titles, including four on the trot.
The stats back it up.
And the eye test does too. He was dominant – and swept across the pitch like a tidal wave.
But times are changing – and his legs have given up. Perhaps the Premier League has changed too?
The graphic below shows the increasing intensity of the league – speed, athleticism and power are beginning to take a boa-like constriction on individual talent.
Players like KDB would have been able to continue (like Modrić in La Liga) well into his 30s. Letting his talent breathe in the absence of his athleticism.
Now? It’s impossible.
So we say a sad goodbye to Kevin – and leave with a tragic stat:
He didn’t win a Player of the Month award even ONCE in his Man City career.
(P.S. James Maddison was the last midfielder to win the award – in 2023, and a defender hasn’t won it since 2022, Joel Matip)
This graphic from @JakeEntwistle's recent @scoutedftbl piece just keeps on blowing my mind.

Pack your team with Palace players!
They’ve got FIVE fixtures in the next three Gameweeks – Brighton, Newcastle, City, Bournemouth, Arsenal.
Yes, not easy games. But they are 2nd in the Premier League form table with 13 points from their last six games.
