24 years after The Gunners poached Sulzeer “Sol” Campbell from Spurs, the Lilywhites have had their revenge.

Well, sort of.

Vinai Venkatesham, Arsenal’s former CEO, has been announced as the new Top Exec at Tottenham Hotspur. Presumably after serving a short non-compete clause.

This is a brilliant ‘signing’ for Spurs, with one caveat.

He’s never sacked or hired a manager – something that will be on every Spurs’ fan’s mind at the moment.

Ange is begging for liberation. If Vinai gets this decision right, all the foundations for success are there.

Perhaps we’ll start seeing Google Ads in 20 years’ time like the one dear Sol played a part in?

There are five teams who could conceivably lift the Champions League.

Barcelona 2/1
PSG 9/4
Arsenal 10/3
Inter 6/1
Bayern Munich 14/1
Real Madrid 20/1

Villa and Dortmund are toast, while Real Madrid are clinging on through pure heritage and reputation.

We are likely staring at Arsenal vs PSG and Barca vs Inter Milan semi-finals. Almost ‘pick-em’ ties.

Yet Barcelona are 2/1 favourites.

The odds suggest a 33% chance they win two huge ties — likely vs Inter and then PSG or Arsenal. But when we feel each match-up is close to 50/50, the maths doesn't quite add up.

The market has massively overreacted to Barca’s evisceration of a brittle Borussia Dortmund side, while their standing in La Liga flatters them — it’s more an indictment of Real Madrid than a reflection of Barca’s dominance.

As Arsenal showed, Real Madrid perhaps aren’t the best measuring stick. Nor is La Liga.

Real’s press was non-existent, and their attitude even worse.

Don’t fall into the Barca trap.

PSG are clearly the best team in the competition, while a full-strength Arsenal and Inter have shown they’ve got the set-ups for knockout football.

Arsenal are perhaps a little short, while Inter could be a marginal bet.

But if you want to know who we’d back in a one-off PSG vs Barca Final… c’est un fait accompli.
