Christmas card for Jesus
Gabriel Jesus’ re-birth this week is very timely with Arsenal struggling for open play goals.
However, there are 38 players currently on four yellow cards going into this weekend. One more and they’ll miss the next game.
Arsenal’s number 9 is one of them.
There would be something rather poetic about Jesus missing the Christmas fixture.
Perhaps he’s got plans next week..?
Keep an eye on the Christmas cards. 👀

Spurs pull up their stockings
Everyone has been battering Spurs for playing the same way, irrespective of the game state. And we’ve been one of them.
Attack, attack, attack.
But there are signs of a shift in behaviour in recent weeks.
While Ange is stubborn, he also wants to stay in a job.
And his recent comments about having a harder time than the PM - “I have one [an election] every weekend, mate” - suggest he might be listening to the fans.
Against Southampton, they could have gone on to score nine. Instead, they came out in the 2nd half with the aim of keeping a clean sheet. Call it a training exercise. It worked.
Against United midweek, they went 3-0 up before a chaotic last half an hour saw them sneak home 4-3.
If you weren’t paying attention - like say Gary Neville 🫣 - you could argue it was because Spurs only try to play one way.
But that wasn’t actually what happened.
Instead, they sat back and tried to absorb pressure. Yes, they weren’t very good at it, but it doesn’t mean they didn’t try.
With some competent keeping, it would have been a very comfy night.
This weekend’s game against Liverpool could be a goalfest, yes. But don’t expect Spurs to continue to fly forward at every minute of the game.
They may sit back. They may still get battered.
But pay attention to what they actually do - not just what the pundits tell you.
It will be instructive as to their growing maturity.
And to Ange’s future.

Bournemouth are FOURTH in the top five European leagues for xG created, and only 2nd in the Premier League behind Liverpool for xG difference (expected goals vs expected goals against).
Don’t be put off by their draw with West Ham. They were dominant.
At the moment they are sharing the goals but that should rebalance soon, with a nice run of games against United, Palace, Fulham and Everton to come.
Evanilson is a snip at £6.1m BUT is currently underperforming his xG by over two goals.
What do we say about the dip?
BUY! 🚀 😂

He never read it
“Back when I was at Liverpool we did Secret Santa. I got Rafa Benitez. I bought him José Mourinho’s book – it was a guide on how to win the Premier League.”
