Oh my Gadd

🤔 Thought of the day: Maybe watching Scotland play football is even more harrowing than an episode of Baby Reindeer?

Just look at creator Richard Gadd, who’s just realised he’s now being stalked by global TV cameras…

What's a tougher watch: Scotland or Baby Reindeer?

THE BIG OPINION

Keir Starmer GIF by GIPHY News

England’s left-wing politics

The relentless pressure on Southgate to shoehorn Phil Foden into left wing ended up as a total disaster against Serbia.

That match produced less xG than in ANY Premier League game last season.

There was zero coherence, zero creativity and zero urgency.

And it’s not Phil’s fault.

He is a disgustingly good footballer, playing for a Man City team that is being slowly built around his finishing talents and bursts of magic.

But he’s not a left winger.

He spent most of the game buzzing around the middle of the park – as he does for City – but this time occupying everyone else’s space.

0 goals
0 assists
0 shots
0 successful dribbles
0 accurate crosses

The only time he ever spent on the left wing was when England were defending.

England need two pacy, aggressive wingers who can beat a man from a standstill. Saka on the right. Gordon on the left.

Bring Phil on in the 70th minute when Jude’s had enough. That’s when he’ll do the damage.

BIG SIX ENERGY

Yamine, mode and median.

Spain and Barcelona’s prodigy, Yamine Lamal, is not your average 16-year-old.

He’s been breaking records from the moment he turned pro: from being the youngest player to ever be subbed before half-time (lol), to the youngest player to ever play in the Euros.

Last week, he rinsed Gvardiol time and again in Spain’s 3-0 win over Croatia – even creating the third goal for Carvajal.

So how did he celebrate that evening?

Studying for his school exams. 🤓

Tonight’s revision?

How to score against an Italy team that’s only conceded thrice in five games.

THE BIG QUOTE

Cold. Wet. Wednesday. Eve. Stoke.

“I feel very cold and almost inactive especially when I played in English stadiums.”

Leo Messi
